Did you know that you lose about a pint of moisture every single night? Some of that is released in our breath, but most of it is sweat and body oil and it goes straight down, into your mattress. Unpleasant right?
Organic Cotton Mattress Pad (Sold as single count) are made from GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)certified fair trade organic cotton. They act as a barrier against sweat, body oils, accidents, and spills by absorbing the moisture before it reaches your mattress. You can't throw your mattress or mattress topper in the washing machine, but you can wash the Organic Cotton Mattress Pad. By using a mattress pad you are keeping your mattress clean, preserving the materials and craftsmanship, and potentially doubling its lifespan. How important do we think using an all natural or organic mattress pad is? Our 20 Year Warranty is contingent upon you owning and using one. Protect your peace of mind and your investment with an Organic Cotton Mattress Pad.
Why go all natural or organic? Simple, synthetic materials—such as polyester—reflect body heat and raises your body temperature, which makes you sweat more. This can make sleeping uncomfortable for you, your partner, and leaves a clammy feeling in the morning. Cotton absorbs sweat and body moisture naturally, cooling your body and reducing sweating and clamminess.
Need extra protection? People with pets, children, or who like having a nice cup of tea or coffee in bed may want extra protection to guard against spills. In these cases we always recommend layering a cotton mattress pad (organic or natural will both do fine) and an Organic Wool Mattress Pad. Cotton absorbs moisture and wool repels and wicks moisture away. When used in concert, an Organic Wool Mattress Pad underneath a cotton mattress pad, they can block up to a cup of liquid.
When we say all natural and organic, we mean it. Since 1982 Soaring Heart Natural Bed Company has been making mattresses and bedding using time-tested techniques, honed and polished over three decades. Soaring Heart makes everything by hand and uses only the highest quality, certified organic, materials available.
Soaring Heart works closely with our suppliers. We travel to their operations, getting to know them and their materials. We collaborate with our suppliers so we can meet and exceed our exacting standards. We take huge pride in our products and in all the people behind them.
It's because of these special relationships with our suppliers and their wonderful organic wool, organic latex, organic cotton and their commitment to upholding organic certifications that we aren’t forced to spoil our products with chemicals or synthetics. No Soaring Heart product has any chemical-based foam or synthetic fire retardants whatsoever.
Our latex is made from pure rubber tree sap, we use organic wool as our fire barrier and it is selected from only the finest sheep farms in New Zealand, and our Cotton is 100% organically grown in the cotton fields of Texas. Nothing but good, honest organic materials provided by good, honest people.
The cotton used in this product is GOTS certified.

This 100% natural moisture barrier is created without fillers or additives, making this woven wool textile the perfect chemical-free solution for mattress and topper protection. The wool is tightly woven and slightly felted, resulting in a natural water repellent fabric that’s a healthy and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic products.
The moisture barrier is designed to lay atop your mattress or topper and beneath a fitted sheet.
Keep in mind that with each washing there is the potential for slight shrinkage. Wash only as needed. With both methods described below, it's important that you skip the wash cycle. That wash cycle creates agitation, which can result in felted or ruined wool bedding. For top-load washers use soak and spin cycles only. Do not use the wash cycle, which agitates and ruins your items. Manually set cycles to soak and spin. Do not allow the machine to enter the wash cycle. Fill the machine with warm water. Add a small amount of biodegradable detergent or wool wash. Place the item in the machine, gently pushing to absorb the water. Let it soak. Skip all wash cycles. The wash cycle is where agitation happens. Instead, manually set to spin. Centrifugal force will spin the water out. Leave the item in the machine, allow to refill with warm water and soak. Follow with a spin cycle. Repeat as needed. Do not machine dry. Drape your items in the sun or a warm place to dry. For front load washers use the gentlest, shortest, and lowest-soil settings. Do not use the wash cycle, which agitates and can ruin your items. For best results, wash with a full load. Place your items in the machine and fill with warm water. Add a small amount of biodegradable detergent or wool wash to the dispenser. Let it soak. Skip all wash cycles. The wash cycle is where agitation happens. Instead, manually set to spin.
