Looking for the ideal compliment to your shikibuton or futon setup? Our gorgeous, sleek tatami frames are the perfect choice. These beautiful frames are designed to fit our tatami mats exactly, and they make a seamless, continuous flat platform surface when used together. If you have a traditional mattress these frames work great too, just don't buy the mats and use the included slats. This item has up to a 4 month lead time.
The frame's low profile or very low profile (either 14.5" high or 8" high, your choice) and handsome black walnut stain (a deep brown-black - pictured) compliment both traditional Asian bedrooms and modern/contemporary decor alike. And here's an interesting feature - there are no screws or bolts used in the outer frame's construction; the rails and legs fit snugly together like a jigsaw puzzle, so the lines are very clean and the structure is incredibly sturdy.
The Tatami Platform Beds are made of sturdy rubber-wood and are coated with a polyurethane finish
Overall footprints of the frames are:
Note: Frame does not include headboard or tatami mats.

We are very happy with our purchase, we bought a firm mattress and it’s soft enough for me and firm enough for my husband. We had an extra firm Queen but upgraded to a king size firm and I convinced my husband to go with a softer one.
Excellent Bed
Best frame. I run in my sleep and on most beds that means it wiggles or juggles and disrupts. Not this frame. Love the height as well. Good for 5’1 and 6’0 persons.
First of all, know that these frames come from an asian distributor, and are not made in the USA. The wood is heavy weight and the stains are actually darker than the pictures by a significant margin. The overall quality of the frame is just okay. The interlocking system for attaching the legs is novel but in practice, kind of unwieldy and not super sturdy. There are small blocks of wood sticking out that break easily--we had a piece crack, and while it is still attached, it will probably break off and I'll need to glue it at some point. The hardware is also of poor quality. The allen screw at the end of the bed which holds the cross beam support for the slats stripped out very easily and is now loose in the socket. The styling is what it is--I thought I'd like it more. In practice, the legs have a very sharp corner on the outside that has led to several bad bumps and bruises. They really should have rounded it off. The slats that came with the bed are nice and solid. The tatami mats are of very good quality. They fit precisely into the bed frame. Overall, it supports our heavy latex mattress easily and we sleep well on it, but the build quality and design just aren't what they could be.
My preference is to sleep closer to the floor, without being on the floor which is harder on my back getting up and down. This tatami bed frame comes in 2 heights and the lower one was perfect. The quality of materials is also perfect for my environmental sensitivities. The frame holds my mattress just enough to keep it from sliding around. The only suggestion I have that I would consider an improvement is that I would prefer rounded corners on the frame which sticks out all around the mattress. That pointy corner is a hazard so I ended up wedging a small pillow over the corner most likely to bite.
