This weekend we held an event at our Bellevue showroom to celebrate our past recipients of the Soaring Heart Sleep Sponsorship, which goes to a Bastyr student studying naturopathic medicine. This year’s recipient will be announced soon and we wanted to take the time to reconnect with our past grads!

One of our awardees did a fascinating talk on the benefits of a good night’s sleep and other Bastyr staff and students were there to discuss how natural sleep and health go hand in hand. We were delighted to see many of our Bellevue neighbors and customers stop by for some wine; live music by our own Production Manager, Brian Christiansen; and sample food made by one of our sleep specialists Nancy.

All in all we had a great time, learned a lot, and hope to see you at our next event.

Curious about the benefits of a good night’s sleep? Check out the first steps to making sleep a priority – something we fully agree with!

  • Maintain a regular sleep and waking pattern/routine, seven days a week.
  • Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep per night.
  • Avoid stimulants at least six hours before bedtime.
  • Exercise promotes good sleep, but do so at least two hours before bed.
  • Avoid large meals before bedtime. A light snack rich in protein can help avoid early morning waking due to low blood sugar.
  • Create a relaxing routine before bedtime.
  • Associate bed with sleep – avoid TV, tablets, phones, and laptops in bed.
  • Sleep in a dark room.
