Last weekend our volunteer team from the Bellevue's Boys & Girls Clubs of America set a new record building our shredded latex bed pillows. The pillows they built will be available at the Soaring Heart location in Bellevue during the Taste of Main at a special Boys and Girls Club Price of just $65. A few of the young people from the BGCA that put them together will also be there representing their club. All proceeds earned from the pillows will go directly to the BGCA to support the hard work they put into building up our nation’s most valuable resource, its children.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of America help children develop leadership skills, build character, and gain valuable skill sets that will be crucial to them as they become adults. Data from several studies conducted clearly indicates that young people who choose to participate in community service, like the opportunities the BGCA presents, perform better in school and excel at maintaining positive relationships with adults. Thanks to the BGCA they become more connected with their community and that has a direct effect on their lives in many positive ways. The BGCA is actually 1 million members strong and growing, which is good news for parents, teachers, and anyone that is concerned about the future of our young people.
