What a blast! With a team of volunteers from Navos and Starbucks we built and delivered 80 of our all organic, shredded latex pillows to the kids at the Seattle Children's Home and Burien's Ruth Dykeman Children's Center. Founded in 1884 the Seattle Children's Home is now part of King County's Navos Mental Health Services group. In an astounding 55 minutes our volunteers built pillows, wrote gift cards and packaged all our pillows for delivery. (Maybe the caffeine helped our efficiency?)
Our kudos to the staff at Navos for all the great work they do to support so many kids in transition treatment. At Soaring Heart we believe we all sleep better knowing we are part of healthy, caring communities. By providing the kids at Navos a brand new pillow we hope everyone on these kids' care teams will feel their hearts soar! Sleep well.

Last week we had the privilege of volunteering at KCTS9's annual pledge drive. Coffees in hand, we turned a deaf ear to the siren song of our mattresses and stayed up past our bedtime to take calls in support or our local public television channel.

We all know that women are from Venus and men are from Mars, but how do we prefer to sleep?

Soaring Heart is pleased to host classes in our shop every Wednesday night in March! Guild Certified Feldenkrais teacher, Becci Parsons' classes are designed to restore our natural capacity to rest, recover and heal from the stress of daily life.

When I originally clapped eyes on the Selk'bag person-shaped sleeping bag, my first response was to applaud. My second response was to stop, as I was in a crowded room. After a few hurried apologies, I immediately contacted the modern-day Da Vincis at Selk'bag and procured one.
Superior quality, craftsmanship, and integrity are the values Soaring Heart Natural Bed Company holds in highest regard. Whether it's crafting engaging programming or exceptional mattresses, excellence comes from the material used and the skills employed. It is for this reason that Soaring Heart supports KCTS9 Public Television.

"Why hasn't someone thought of these sooner?" I asked myself upon seeing the Eyelid Stickers. Some brilliant mind, while taking a break from solving the world's problems, combined weak adhesive and museum-quality realism to allow us noble working folk to take the odd nap at work. Sure, it sounds obvious once someone else has done it.
Toxic Hot Seat is a documentary by HBO about the toxic chemicals used in mattresses and furniture as fire retardants and the outdated laws, based on fraudulent claims, that keep them in use. The documentary comes on the heels of the Pulitzer Prize-winning multi-part article, "Playing With Fire," published in the Chicago Tribune in 2012 that brought to light the hazardous nature of these chemicals we are surrounding ourselves with.
All 84,000 of them.
Ever wonder what all the organic labeling means? Well, it's not as simple as one would hope. Not all organic is created equal.
